The purpose for separation may be to:
- Dewater
- Clarify
- Recover either the liquid or
solids phase
- Separate one from the other
for disposal
The simple design of
the Self Dumping Hopper Container Filter consists
of three components:
Sludge is pumped or
conveyed into the Self Dumping Hopper Container Filter.
Gravity or pump suction draws off liquid, and the remaining
solids are dewatered and ready for disposal. Filter
media is supported by perforated plate panels that
form a basket in the container. The space between the
"basket" and the floor/wall of the container is the
drainage field for the liquid. The liquid can gravity
drain out of the drainage ports that are located on
the outside of the container, or a self-priming pump
may be connected to the drainage ports to transfer the
liquid or create a vacuum drainage enhancement.
Self-Dumping Hoppers
are available in 1/2, 1, 1-1/2, 2, 3, 4 and 5 cubic
yards. They are available in basic,
standard, and gravity/vacuum
styles. The container bodies are constructed of 10-gauge
carbon steel. They are normally handled by a forklift.
